Statement by Mayor Gutierrez on the
Passing of Marshall Scott, First Mayor

For immediate release: January 2, 2020

I am saddened to learn of the passing of former mayor Marshall Scott. He was our City's first mayor and one of the founders of Moreno Valley. But even long after his term of service was complete, Marshall remained one of our City's most enthusiastic supporters. As Mayor, I have benefitted from his advice and appreciated his friendship. Moreno Valley has lost one of its best friends, and on behalf of the City Council and all our City employees, I offer my condolences to Marshall's wife, Fran, and their family.
